I’m all out of SWE puns #13
What did you do this past week?
I did the usual: homework, projects, work, and chores. I’ve been enjoying the newly released games off to the side as well, which has been very fun. I also caught up on an entire manga series in one day. It is very nice to be done with most of the semester’s work.
What’s in your way?
My sleep schedule has now done a full 180 and I’m now actually nocturnal. Thankfully, Thanksgiving Break is just around the corner so I’ll capitalize on that opportunity to turn that 180 to a 360 and flip my sleep schedule back upright.
What will you do next week?
Next week, I will grind on my virtualization project since that’s bound to take some time and it’s due in a week and a half. I’ll try to get caught up on the lectures of some of my less important classes, but we’ll see how that actually goes. I’m also probably going to be cooking (and eating) quite a bit more than I usually do, which does not bode well for my scale. Worth it, though. I’ll also work on the finishing touches for this class’s project.
If you read it, what did you think of What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?
I thought much of the same when I read anything pertaining to sexism in the tech industry. These are problems that still persist today and I’ll do my best to help prevent those sorts of situations from arising.
What was your experience of refactoring?
It’s interesting to learn proper refactoring practices. Before, whenever I “refactored,” I didn’t really know entirely what I was doing or how much it would help. Now, I’m starting to get a clue.
What made you happy this week?
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity dropped on Thursday night. Yes, this is part of the reason why my sleep schedule is flipped now. Despite that, I think it’s a great game and I’m very happy to be playing it.
I also made some awesome creme brulee and had a successful attempt at pork cutlets. I also made Japanese curry from scratch, so that felt like an accomplishment.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
For those who are still looking for internships/jobs: if an application asks for an unofficial transcript, you can send them a copy of your degree audit instead of sending the official not-free unofficial UT transcript.
